PLAN YOUR STRATEGY
THE GOAL
The goal of any weed control program is to prevent undesirable
plants from producing seeds. A single weed
can produce 100,000 seeds which:
•easily disperse over long distances in the wind
•tolerate extreme temperatures
•survive in both wet and dry conditions
•can grow in varying levels of oxygen
•remain viable in soil for many years
KNOW WHEN TO ATTACK
Some weeds are more susceptible to herbicides at certain times
of the day and even during specific times of the year. Knowing
a weed’s weaknesses can enhance a herbicide’s
effectiveness.
KNOW THE ENEMY
To select the proper herbicide, you first need to know what
kind of weeds you want to kill as well as what kinds of plants
you want to preserve.
